About Dr. Adriana Rosen
Dr. Adriana Rosen is a licensed psychologist and psychoanalyst. She views therapy as a collaborative, depth-oriented process—one that helps people understand the emotional patterns, inner conflicts, and relationship templates that shape their lives, often outside of awareness. Her work is grounded in careful listening and curiosity about meaning, the story beneath symptoms, and the ways we protect ourselves when something hurts.
After completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Rosen earned her Ph.D. in Psychology (Clinical Track) from the University of North Texas in 2003. From early in her training, she was drawn to psychoanalytic theory and its language for understanding emotional life. Her master’s thesis examined the relationship between recalled parenting and anaclitic (relationship fears) and introjective (self-critical) types of depression, and her doctoral dissertation, based on the Transtheoretical Model of Change, grew out of clinical work at Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support in Dallas, Texas, where she worked with women affected by abusive relationships and domestic violence.
Dr. Rosen completed her predoctoral internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital (Jackson Health System), in affiliation with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she provided individual and group psychotherapy, conducted full psychological assessments, and collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams. Following internship, she remained in the Department of Psychiatry, where she participated in a national clinical research study on the treatment of schizophrenia and facilitated supportive group therapy for patients and their families. She also served as a Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Miami, where she supervised doctoral students in psychotherapy and psychological assessment in the University of Miami Psychology Clinic.
She completed her formal psychoanalytic training at the Florida Psychoanalytic Institute in 2018 under the traditional tripartite model of coursework, personal analysis, and supervised analytic practice. Dr. Rosen is a faculty member at the Florida Psychoanalytic Institute, serves on the Board of the Florida Psychoanalytic Center, and is a Clinical Member of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
In her clinical work, Dr. Rosen has a particular interest in loss, immigration and identity, and the intergenerational transmission of trauma. She is bilingual and bicultural, fluent in English and Spanish, and spent part of her childhood and adolescence in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Dr. Rosen approaches psychotherapy and psychoanalysis with careful attention to language, symbolism, and emotional nuance. She also believes that humor, when it emerges naturally, is welcomed as part of the analytic process.
